The eBay Search Tool is One of the Most Valuable Auction Tools on eBay

If you are looking to buy something on the eBay online auction website, then you need to do an eBay search. You can do this by going to the eBay home page and then typing in your item in the search bar. eBay has so many auctions that if you are not specific, you are likely going to get many items in your search. You may even get too many so you might decide to narrow down your search.

You can go into the separate categories and search for your item. There are even subcategories that get pretty specific. By doing this search, you are going to get a listing of any eBay auctions that match your search request. You can even sort the results by price from highest to lowest, or by when it is ending. This allows you to see the ‘true” price of something or get opportunity to bid on something at the last minute.

How to Find Hidden Bargains Using the Search Functions on eBay

The eBay basic search box will search auction titles only. To get a much more detailed search function, click the advanced search link below the main search box. The advanced search gives you many options, including:

  • Search titles and descriptions
  • Search completed listings
  • Exclude auctions with certain words
  • Minimum and maximum prices
  • Location of item

These are just a few of the options in advanced search. By using this, you can get much more specific results without having to sort through a lot of items you don’t want.

Start at Home

When you first get started, it can be a little unnerving. The best option is to start by looking around your own home. Think of items that you would sell in a garage sale. However, instead of pricing each item and lugging it outside hoping for a nice sunny day, you can advertise them on the Internet.
